Give Your New Friend a Great Start with Puppy Kindergarten

Taught by Kristina, Puppy Kindergarten is the first class in our Puppy Program is appropriate for puppies ages 2 months to 4 months. It’s designed to ensure your puppy receives plenty of socialization with various people and other dogs. In this class, you’ll learn:

• Dog handling techniques for a variety of situations, such as grooming, visiting the veterinarian, and giving medication
• How to get your puppy to “settle”
• Crate and house-training techniques
• How to resolve problematic behaviors, including nipping, chewing, jumping up, barking, etc.
• Basic obedience commands including Touch, Come, Sit, Stand, and Down
• Clicker training introduction
• Proper meet and greet with humans and other dogs
• Appropriate play versus inappropriate puppy play
• How dogs learn and how to communicate with them

Puppy Kindergarten also includes off-leash puppy play, which will give your puppy the opportunity to play with other puppies and enhance socialization skills.

Please bring your pup to class in a collar and/or harness with a 4 ft – 8 ft standard leash (no retractable leashes permitted). Please do NOT feed your pup at least 2 – 3 hours before class and bring a LOT of TASTY SOFT treats, such as cheese, cooked chicken, or any soft flavored chicken, liver, or beef (NO milk bones or biscuits). The same treats you use at home may not work in a highly distracting class environment. Please bring your pup’s water bowl and a stuffed bone or Kong to keep your pup busy (to avoid barking if indicated for your pup).
