Want a dog with good manners? Attend a Basic Manners Training class

Taught by Kara this class is packed full of useful dog training and rearing information. Dogs 6 months and older will enjoy learning new skills or improving old ones with the use of reward based and force free techniques. We will dig deep into answering the question of WHY does my dog do that? What are they saying, how are they feeling, how can I undo a learned behavior? We often forget they are emotional beings capable of feeling some of the same emotions humans feel. All to often these emotions affect their trainability and health. As we explore getting to know your dog we will teach them useful skills such as sit, down, settle, stay, leave it, come, loose leash walking, meet n greet people & dogs, drop it, impulse control and confidence building. You will learn corresponding hand signals, working from a distance and with distractions.

Please bring to class your pup in a collar and/or harness with a 4 ft – 8 ft standard leash (no retractable leashes permitted). Please be sure to feed your pup at least 2 – 3 hours before class and bring a LOT of TASTY SOFT treats, such as cheese, cooked chicken, or any soft flavored chicken, liver, or beef (NO milk bones or biscuits). The same treats you use at home may not work in a high distractive class environment. Please bring along your pup’s water bowl and a bone or Kong to keep your pup busy to avoid barking if indicated for your pup.

Please note: This class is designed for foundational skills such as engagement, sit, stay, and other basic behaviors. It is not a substitute or solution for reactive dog training or behavior modification.

If your dog:

  • Barks excessively at people or other dogs and cannot be easily redirected, or
  • Is difficult to manage safely (for example, pulling strongly enough that you cannot stay steady on your feet around distractions),

We recommend reaching out to us about private training sessions instead. This allows us to better support you and your dog in a more controlled, individualized environment.
